Get involved

The possibilities are endless, it doesn’t have to be ground breaking! Every donation is valuable to us, to help people with learning disabilities achieve their ambitions.

Hold a cake sale, clothes swap, sweet stall, car wash, car boot, sponsored event, disco, dinner, garden party, musical performance, grow your hair, cut it off, grow a beard, cut it off, you get the gist!

For more information, or advice and support on doing an event, please contact Cath Errington on 01789 298709 or email cerrington@heartofenglandmencap.org.uk

Here are some ideas of local events you could get involved in:

Or take up a challenge. Is there something you always wanted to do, but never got round to? Sky diving, Three Peaks Challenge, a cycle challenge? Why not do it for Heart of England Mencap?

Or you could join the Friends of Heart of England Mencap fundraising group, a network of friendly individuals, who organise around four events a year. Click here to find out more

Ride for Bikes - 60km Hilly Challenge 2017

Huge thanks to our sponsor, the Rosconn Group.

Our 2017 Ride for Bikes - 60km Hilly Challenge is happening on Sunday June 25th, pedalling off at 9am.  Starting and finishing at Meon Vale Leisure Centre, it will see cyclists taking on a 60km route through Warwickshire and Gloucestershire, including the challenging climbs of the Cotswold Hills.

All of the money raised will support our cycling project and will fund the purchase of adapted bikes to so that our customers can enjoy cycling too. Our small fleet of bikes and trikes is growing thanks to previous fundraising, grants and donations – and in particular the proceeds of the 2016 Lions Raft Race, which raised a huge amount to support the project. However, we still need funds to do even more; hand cycles for example enable people in wheelchairs but with strength in their arms to experience the joy of cycling. Side by side bikes allow workers to ride with a customer, meaning that even those who don’t have much physical strength can still benefit from the experience. We want to buy regular bikes as well, so that friends and family can join our customers for a fun day of cycling.

We are now ever closer to realising our ultimate dream - a dedicated track, with storage on site plus parking, toilets and refreshment facilities. We hope that this year’s Ride for Bikes will get us there!

Registration for Rides for Bikes is open now – and costs £30 per cyclist, to include a BBQ and refreshments.

Simply click here to sign up!

Those keen to get involved – but who are not quite up to the 60km challenge – can still be part of the event too, with a fun, indoor static ride, taking place on the day at Meon Vale Leisure Centre!
