Do it now!

Our Volunteers come from all kinds of backgrounds with all different reasons for volunteering, but they all make a positive difference to the lives of people with learning disabilities and they smile a lot!

Volunteering with Heart of England Mencap is a rewarding way to spend your spare time.

Make new friends, learn new skills and try something different.  Not least of all, volunteering is fun!

Some of our volunteers apply because they are thinking of a career in care and want to gain some valuable experience. Others volunteer because they find they have some time on their hands and want to do something worthwhile.

Why volunteer?

As a volunteer you might be:

Supporting someone with a hobby like fishing, cooking, gardening or maybe going to a football match or the cinema.

Going shopping with cake and coffee afterwards!

Get behind the wheel and drive for us.

Helping out at our Day Activities services in Stratford Upon Avon, Malvern or Warwick.

Volunteering at one of our fundraising events – from selling raffle tickets to organising a summer ball.

If you have any specific skills or interests these can also be used i.e. drama, craft, dance but, regardless, we need your time.

What would I be doing?

As much as you want – there is no minimum; we are grateful for every minute that goes towards making a difference to someone with a learning disability.

How much time do I have to give?

All our volunteers have an induction when they start and initial training with their manager. We provide a comfortable and safe environment with a friendly and supportive atmosphere. Depending on your involvement, further training may be available.

Needless to say whatever volunteering role you choose, ongoing support will be available to you.

Do I get paid?

Whilst we do not pay volunteers, we do pay reasonable expenses which may include car mileage or meals when you’re volunteering.
