Community Engagement Activities

Some people may prefer to choose an activity where they can work around their other commitments such as employment, education or family.  A Day Service setting/structure isn’t for everyone so, here at Heart of England Mencap, we’re aiming to offer community-led activities 7 days a week to include evenings that anybody with a learning disability and autism can join in with – at a time that suits them.

Some of these community sessions can be accessed for free and some may charge a small fee (to cover overhead costs).

Take a look below at some of the activities you could be joining in with today!

The Reach Out Club are members of our local community with lived experiences in learning disabilities & autism.  Our mission is to help empower people to share their experiences and to make our healthcare systems and community, as a whole, more inclusive and accessible. We meet once a month to discuss common aspects that affect our lives, such as travel/transport, isiting the GP or Hospital and barriers we face accessing social activities.  We also work with our local commissioners such as the NHS, County Councillors and the Police helping to provide them with accurate, up-to-date information on the highs and lows of living in our community with a learning disability and/or autism.

The Reach Out Club would love to hear from you! To find out more ways in which we can work together to improve our services and community engagement please get in touch!
